Elizabeth Taylor's jewellery collection to be auctioned
Tuesday 5 April 2011According to recent news, Taylor's massive collection of diamonds and rare vintage jewellery will reportedly be auctioned at Christie's. Sources said that the estimated $150 million jewels are expected to go under the hammer sometime in the future.
The jewels include the 69-carat Taylor-Burton diamond that was purchased for more than $1 million and the 33-carat Krupp diamond given by fifth husband Richard Burton, which was said to be her most treasured piece.
“She had a collection like I've never seen before, and she knew exactly what everyone was – what the diamonds were, the quality. But it was more for her; it was… the history behind it. A lot of them had sentimental value,” said a jeweller.
