“Boardwalk Empire” fashion in stores?
Thursday 3 February 2011For the television shows to influence the modern fashion, they need to be memorable in terms of clothes. “Mad Men” is the perfect example. And, it appears that “Boardwalk Empire” is also hot on its heels.
Launched only recently, it will be a while before the show’s ‘20s fashion will be coming to stores. In the ‘20s, the corset era is ending, but the art of the brassiere is in its infancy. Because there is minimal construction of the silhouette, the fabrics can be light and designed to move. As for the great fashion designers, Prada had launched a 50s influenced collection, while Louis Vuitton is pushing for deep v-necked fringed silk evening dresses.
The fashion shows in Paris have all showed the powdery colors of Prohibition-era eveningwear: peach, apricot and silver. The most telling would be that the big fashion retailers have already begun selling clothes inspired by the 20s fashion.
