Zoe Saldana, “face of the future”
Sunday 28 February 2010The female star from “Avatar”, Zoe Saldana, named earlier this week as “The Face of the Future”, arrived at the MaxMara show at Milan Fashion Week dressed in gold, wearing a metallic, figure-hugging gold dress from next autumn/winter’s collection of old-established, Italian, family brands.
MaxMara chose Saldana as its “Face of the Future” in recognition of her talent, style and grace. She will receive her award at the Women in Film Crystal & Lucy gala, in Los Angeles, in June. When asked what she would wear at the Oscars, she said she had not yet decided.
Known for her eclectic style, Saldana likes to wear creations from British designers, Amanda Wakeley and Antonio Berardi, as well as Versace, Pucci and Calvin Klein. Her role models, she said, were stars such as Angelina Jolie and Jessica Biel, who were “in tune with their masculinity and androgyny. It’s empowering to be a strong woman,” she confessed.

Oscars Designer Challenge 2010
Saturday 27 February 2010The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is inviting the public to choose an original evening gown by one of nine up-and-coming fashion designers who are dreaming to have their work worn by one of the stars during the 82nd Academy Awards.
Members of the fashion and entertainment press were introduced to the designers and their creations at a runway fashion show at the Academy's Beverly Hills headquarters on Tuesday.
A model will then wear the voters' favorite gown as she brings Oscar statuettes onto the stage of the Kodak Theatre on Oscar night.

Lady Gaga works with Armani
Friday 26 February 2010Fans with tickets for Lady Gaga’s “Monster Ball” tour, which moves to the O2 Arena on Friday 26th February, will be able to see her in designs by fashion giant Giorgio Armani.
The new diva of pop has worked with the designer to create the eccentric outfits she wears on stage. Despite earlier reports, Lady Gaga will not be collaborating with Donatella Versace on a clothing line, according to a statement released by a spokesperson for the label.
Giorgio Armani has previously worked with the singer as he created the much praised outfits that Lady Gaga wore to the Grammy's earlier this year. Her track, “Poker Face”, was recently named as the second most downloaded song of all time on iTunes.

Elle Style Awards 2010
Thursday 25 February 2010During this year’s London Fashion Week, Elle magazine celebrated its own show in the form of its annual Style Awards ceremony. The gala is held each year and honours the most stylish ambassadors in the TV, film and fashion industries.
The Olsen twins were named Elle's Style Icons of 2010 and rose to the occasion. Mary-Kate chose a gothic look from Lanvin while Ashley wore a Christian Lacroix haute couture dress. Naomi Campbell was presented with an Outstanding Contribution award. Claudia Schiffer was named Model of the Year.
Dannii Minogue, who brightened the atmosphere with a canary-yellow, one-shoulder gown, by Australian designer, Lisa Ho, was presented with the TV star award from her sister Kylie. Bafta winners Carey Mulligan and Colin Firth were named Actress and Actor of the year.

Anna Wintour in hall of fame
Wednesday 24 February 2010Anna Wintour, considered to be one of the most powerful people in fashion, is headed to the Magazine Editors' Hall of Fame. The announcement was made by the American Society of Magazine Editors.
The released statement says: "Throughout her career, Anna Wintour has exemplified the highest standards of taste, in both journalism and fashion. She has defined style for a generation of magazine readers and come to epitomize the essential qualities of editorial leadership."
The annual gala will take place in April. Previous ASME honourees include Martha Stewart, Tina Brown, Helen Gurley Brown and Hugh Hefner.
